Based out of Ellicott City, MD, Oella Xpress plays an eclectic mix of music, from classic to contemporary, rock and pop to blues and soul. With roots in rock and funk, and influenced by rhythm n’ blues, we strive to create set lists that appeal to a wide variety of audiences and blend together 60 years of rock music to provide listeners with an interesting, engaging, and entertaining musical experience.
Set lists have included music by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, The Beatles, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Nightsweats, Kings of Leon, The Band, Black Keys, The Black Crowes, The Allman Brothers, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, Peter Gabriel, The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, The Rolling Stones, Spencer Davis Group, JJ Grey and Mofro, Phish, Dawes, and Chris Stapleton, to name a few.
A Family Affair
A true family, Oella Xpress was formed when guitarists Bill Kracker and son-in-laws Chris Selzer and Dave Wille realized they had something special while playing music around the campfire at a family outing. Chris brought in his brother, drummer Brian Selzer, and lightning struck. Shortly after, talented keyboardist Jamie Green, and phenom bass player Dan Burger rounded out the group, bringing new dimensions and greater flexibility in play style and song selection.
A musical experience
Not satisfied with simply replicating songs, Oella Xpress leverages the talent of 5 singers, 3 guitars, 1 bass, 1 keyboard, and 1 set of drums to create a true musical experience. The band deftly switches from 4-part vocal harmony on songs like "The Weight" and "Somewhere Along the Way", to swinging rhythms on "Howling at Nothing" and "Orange Blossoms", to pulse-pounding rock on "Sex is on Fire" and "Love Don't".
